Instructions / The Migrator
Thanks for purchasing one of the Camp 64 Outdoors Migrator Flag System.
We hope you’ll have many memorable years of use out of your Migrator.
Instructions:
Your Migrator will come with a metal base, spring/pole assembly, 2 washers, 1 large nut, 2 spikes and a flag with fiberglass rods.
1. Lay the base flat and insert the spring/pole assembly through the large hole in the base. You should have 1 large washer on the top of the base and 1 large washer on the bottom. Place the large nut onto the threads at the bottom of the base. Before tightening the nut, make sure the J bolt at the bottom of the aluminum rod is facing away and the eye hook on the aluminum rod is facing your blind. Once everything is square, tighten the nut.
2. The top of the aluminum rod will have 2 holes (1/8”). Pick up your flag and Insert each of the exposed ends of the fiberglass rods into these holes (one on each side) one in the top hole and one in the bottom with the attracting color facing away and towards the incoming birds.
3. On the bottom of the flag you’ll find an elastic loop. Hook this loop onto the J Hook.
4. Set up your entire spread before running a line to your blind.
5. Set your Migrator so that you’ll pull the flag towards you - square (into the wind). Take the 2 spikes and insert them into the 2 holes in the base and push these all the way into the ground so the unit is secure.
6. Choose the type of string/line and length you’re going to use. Each individual will have his/her preference on the type to use. Attach a clip to the end of your line.
7. Run your line from your blind to your Migrator and clip your line to the loop on the cable.
8. You’re ready to start flagging!
At the end of the day, remove the flag from the pole. If you choose to disassemble the spring/pole assembly, do so by loosening the large nut on the bottom of the base to separate the Spring/Pole assembly from the base.
DO NOT attempt to disassemble the aluminum rod or any other part other than the large nut on the bottom of the base as indicated above.
TIPS
· Our product works at different angles of your set-up without any additional rigging. Simply loosen the wing nut on the bottom of the base and face the eye loop towards you. If you’re sitting with a crosswind, set your Migrator into the wind sideways to you and run your line at a 45 degree angle to your blind. Works great! Always remember, the eye bolt located on the base (with the wing nut) must always face you.
· Personally, I purchased an empty chalk line and spooled it with 70# Green Dacron fishing line and attached a clip to the end. This way it’s easy to wind and unwind my line and allows me to easily operate the flag movement.
· Flag up and down to get the attention from birds at a distance. This will resemble birds fighting for feed, stretching, taking off or landing. Once the birds are coming in, lay the flag down. I like to stop flagging once the birds get within 40 acres (1/4 mile) of the blind. This will prevent spooking the birds.
· Set 2 of your regular decoys facing sideways to help cover the wings from approaching birds once you lay the flag down and stop flagging.
· For best results, we suggest 1 Migrator for small spreads, 2 Migrators for a medium spread and 3 Migrators for large spreads.
· Don’t forget to check out our Hand Flags which can be used in the blind or while laying within your decoys.
Combine these with one of our Layout chairs and Gun Holders and you're all set for some in your face action!
· All species of our flags are interchangeable with Hand Flags as well as the Migrators.
